Part of Request a data collection or information standard
Outcome of your request
After your submission has been reviewed, you will be informed when it is ready for discussion at the Data Assurance Board (DAB) and then whether it has been approved (at DAB) and when.
If your request is approved
If your request is approved, the data collection or information standard will be published, along with any critical supporting documentation.
Organisations in scope will be required to consider your new or amended collection or standard. You may, therefore, be required to apply any necessary monitoring and enforcement processes.
You may also need to support implementation, including provided guidance or working with stakeholders to ensure the standard is adopted correctly.
If your request is not approved
Not all requests are approved.
If your request does not meet the required criteria, it may not be taken forward.
This could be because:
- a suitable data collection or information standard already exists
- the proposal does not have a clear purpose or policy alignment
- there is not enough evidence to support the request
- the legal basis is unclear or not appropriate
- the impact, cost or burden outweighs the expected benefits
- there are concerns about clinical safety, data quality or implementation
- You may be able to:
- update your proposal and resubmit it
- provide additional evidence
- explore whether an existing standard can be amended instead
The DGAT team will provide feedback after the board review, including suggestions on what your next steps might be.
The Assurance team will work with you throughout the process, offering guidance and support. They will also advise if your request may not be viable and suggest alternative approaches to achieve a similar outcome.
