Part of Request a data collection or information standard

Check if your request already exists

In some cases, what you need may already exist or could be met by updating an existing standard or data collection.

Before submitting your request, you should:

  • check whether a similar standard, or data collection already exists
  • consider whether your request could be met by extending or improving an existing standard, or data collection

This helps avoid duplication and ensures the most effective use of existing data.

If a standard already exists, you may need to request a change rather than create a new one.

You can check existing data collections and information standards and the data dictionary NHS Data Model and Dictionary.

If you have any questions, the Assurance team will work with you to check that your request is required.
