Where country of birth was recorded, most individual attendees were born in East Africa. The chart below shows the percentage of individual attendances by country of birth and NHS commissioning region.

Individual attendance counts for 2024-25 by country of birth and NHS commissioning region is provided in table 4.1 of the Data Tables.

Only 67% of individual women and girls have a known country of birth recorded. Regionally, the proportion of known values varies between 56% and 83%. The 'known' category excludes “Not Recorded” and “Not stated or unknown”.

The charts below show time series for the percentage of individual attendances by country of birth and the percentage with a known country of birth recorded.

The chart below shows the percentage of individual attendances by country of birth by FGM Type.

Individual attendance counts for 2024-25 by country of birth by FGM Type are provided at region level in table 4.1.2 of the Data Tables and at country level in table 4.1.3 (for countries where there is at least one person recorded during the year).
