Cancer registrations
Cancer registrations in England can take up to 5 years after the end of a given calendar year to reach 100% completeness, due to the continuing accrual of late registrations. Please see the Cancer Registrations Statistics bulletin for more information.
Index of cancer survival
The index of cancer survival publication provides a convenient, single number that summarises the overall pattern of cancer survival for each calendar year. It combines the net survival estimates for each gender, age group and:
-
female breast cancer
-
colorectal cancer
-
lung cancer
-
all other invasive cancers combined, excluding both prostate and non-melanoma skin cancers.
The methodology for the index of cancer survival is currently being updated. If you would like more information on how this affects your outputs, please contact [email protected].
Stage at diagnosis
The Case-mix adjusted percentage of cancers diagnosed at stages 1 and 2 Collection provides all publications relating to case-mix adjusted stage: One-year and 3-year case-mix adjusted percentage of cancers diagnosed at stages 1 and 2, as compared to stages 3 to 4.

UK statistics
Cancer incidence statistics across the UK can be accessed from the following individual cancer registries:
Welsh Cancer Intelligence Surveillance Unit [email protected]
Public Health Scotland [email protected]
Northern Ireland Cancer Registry [email protected]
NDRS, the Office for National Statistics and these other cancer registries (including the National Cancer Registry Ireland, along with specialist registries and cancer charities) are members of the UK and Ireland Association of Cancer Registries (UKIACR), which aims to promote and develop cancer registration in England, Wales, Scotland, the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
The UKIACR specifically provides a:
-
focus for national initiatives in cancer registration
-
coherent voice for representation of cancer registries in the UK and Ireland
-
channel for liaison between registries and for agreeing policy on matters connected with cancer registration
-
framework to facilitate the operation of special-interest groups and regional registries
-
means of stimulating the development of cancer registration, information procedures and practices, and research based on cancer registry data
UK-wide statistics on cancer survival can also be found on the website of Cancer Research UK.
