Cancer Registration Statistics, England, 2023

Presents a detailed summary of the 2023 cancer registrations and cancer death registrations. Information on methodology and quality of data is also provided.

Estimates of cancer incidence diagnosed in 2023 are published using the NDRS cancer groups and are aggregated by age group, gender, stage at diagnosis, hormonal status (breast cancer only) and Gleason group (prostate cancer only) for England (Table 1).

Estimates of cancer incidence diagnosed in 2023 are published using ICD-10 codes for England (Table 2).

Estimates of cancer deaths in 2023 are published using ICD-10 codes for England (Table 3).

The main report is accompanied by an interactive data dashboard. This allows readers to download or view data that is contained within the published data tables, with the added functionality of combining age groups, additional years of data (2013 to 2023 for NDRS cancer groups and 2001 to 2023 for ICD-10 codes), sub-national geographies and additional types of rates (age-standardised, non-standardised and age-specific).
