There were 234,889 useable critical care records in 2024-25, a decrease from 2023-24 (236,171 records).
Critical Care records by age and sex, 2024-25
In 2024-25, patients aged 65-69 years represented the age group with the highest number of critical care records (28,402 records).
Children and young people (patients aged between 0-19 years) accounted for 3,715 (1.6%) of critical care records.
Male patients accounted for over half (57.5%) of critical care records.
