Secondary Uses Service (SUS) SUS+ replacement

Find Secondary Uses Service (SUS) SUS+ replacement resources and support, including information on release history, user support and development.

Pushed Unified Extracts from SUS+

SUS+ has the ability to provide national data automatically to commissioners and national bodies. The data is pushed out from SUS+ on a regular basis (daily) using JSON Lines (instead of csv) into an organisations MESH mailbox. This facility enables the receiving organisation to automate their ingestion processes to reduce local manual processing costs and to improve the timeliness of data availability.

This website has the latest version of Emergency Care Unified Extracts.

The latest versions of Admitted Patient Care (APC) and Outpatient (OP) unified extracts are zipped and this pack provides:

  • CDS interchanges used to generate the example reports
  • example reports generated from the same data for SEM, PbR and Unified Extracts
  • schema documentation of the unified structure as a "properties" csv view and a JASON-Schema

User guides

To accompany these specifications, there are two handy user guides. The unified user guide gives an overview of the content and structure of the unified extracts and how local processing works.

The JSONL ingestion guide is aimed at technical users and gives guidance as to how the unified extracts can be imported into SQLServer (post SQLServer 2016).

If you require unified extract data (currently Emergency Care, APC and OP data), please contact the SUS+ team who will be happy to discuss  this with you and provide you with a Report Feed Request Form to be completed.

Draft unified extract specification

These slides contain information relating  to the Unified Extract that we are developing.  The proposal is to deliver these extracts using JSON Lines instead of CSV.

The background for the unified extract is provided in these slides.

Additional technical information is available in the Readme.txt file included in the zip file.

Within the zip file, separate folders contain information related to the main CDS types; Admitted Patient Care, Outpatient, and Emergency Medicine.  Each of these folders contains two sub-folders, one containing a file of test data and the other containing the JSON schema file and a CSV version of the specification (also referring to the JSON format).

The read me file contains links to example web based parsers to view the data file and to visualise the schema.
