NHS login roadmap
Find out what we are working on now and what we plan to do in the future.
Introduction
NHS login is a service that is constantly being developed and improved, and we are regularly adding new features based on research and data insights. The roadmap shows what we are working on right now and what we plan to do in the future, but some of these things may change over time.
April to June 2026
- Supporting proxy access to medical records, so people can manage health services on behalf of others
- Expanding passkey support across NHS login journeys, including registration and password recovery
- Improving checks to reduce duplicate accounts
- Exploring additional multi-factor authentication options, such as authenticator apps
- Assessing the feasibility of Welsh language support for NHS login journeys in Wales
Ongoing
- Deletion of any NHS logins (P0 & P5) which haven’t been used for 2 years. (users are notified via email)
- Review of user journeys to identify areas of improvement
- Accessibility improvements
