In quarter 1 of 2020-21 the number of maternities with an unknown smoking status has dropped to 1%. This compares to 1.9% during 2019-20.
The following 3 CCGs recorded over 5% of their maternities with an unknown smoking status:

- NHS West Suffolk (7.6%)
- NHS Mid Essex (6.5%)
