Correction of published data
After publication of the Q4 Stop Smoking Services data, Hammersmith and Fulham Local Authority notified us of a undercount in the number of referrals to their Stop Smoking Service caused by an error in their local reporting system. The affected tables (2.2, 2.3a, 2.4a, 2.7 and 2.9) have been updated with a footnote.

Part 2 - Quit attempts and self-reported quit rate by intervention type and setting
Intervention type
There are a range of interventions options that can be accessed through Stop Smoking Services, from closed groups (pre-arranged start and finish dates and a pre-booked client group) to one-to-one support (structured multi-session support). For further definitions for these intervention types, please consult the Notes & Definitions section of Stop Smoking Services Q4 2024/25 data tables.
Number of quit attempts
The most common intervention type is telephone support with 108,166 (45.4%) of those setting a quit date using this intervention type in 2024/25.
Self-reported quit rate
The self-reported quit rate varies considerably across Intervention types from 47.7% for 'One-to-one support in person' to 61.7% for 'Group support in person'.
Intervention setting
Intervention settings includes all main settings in which people can access Local Stop Smoking Services. These include amongst others: general practice (GPs), pharmacies, prisons, hospitals, dental settings, military bases, schools, workplaces and mental health settings.
Number of quit attempts
The most common intervention setting was community with 162,788 (68.3%) followed by other with 27,984 (11.7%).
Self-reported quit rate
The self-reported quit rate varies across intervention setting. The highest self-reported quit rate was prison at 89.7% and lowest at pharmacy at 38.7%.
