Methodology
Headcount Calculation
Headcount figures have been calculated by counting the number of unique GPs for whom at least one claim has been made from 1 October 2024 onwards. Unique GPs are identified by their GMC number.
FTE Calculation
FTE figures are calculated from cleansed data after the removal of duplicate records. Deduplication is performed by consolidating records matching on PCN, claim month, start date, GMC number, and FTE value. Following deduplication, the total FTE for any one individual GP is capped at one for any given claim month.
Users wishing to examine the relationship between Headcounts and Full-Time Equivalents should only do so using Tables 2a and 2b which detail both measures within each claim month.
Duplicate records
During processing, duplicate records are identified and removed to ensure inflated numbers are not reported. As part of data improvement work, duplicates are shared with Regional colleagues so these records can be corrected.
