In response we have provided data on the ECT activity from each financial year from 2016/17 to 2024/25 for England by local authority. We have also provided a separate split for primary diagnosis or primary reason for referral for the same period.

In response to a request for data related to electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) being used by the NHS to treat mental illness in England.
Data provided has been split by financial year, local authority and primary diagnosis or primary reason for referral and covers statistics concerning which mental health illnesses have required the use of ECT for treatment.
