A 111 provider submitted details of a coroner’s case, for information relating to the variation in the 111 and 999 outcome of a patient’s triage who had severe breathing difficulties and blue lips, caused to differences in 111 triage system operated by NHS Pathways and 999 triage system operated by MPDS.

A 999 provider submitted a request for change following a complaint. The request was to review the clinical content for those who have severe bleeding, to include those who have recently given birth.

NHS Pathways reviewed the enquiry and a category 2 ambulance outcome was correctly reached. However, it was agreed that enhancements could be made to the triage to support those with sever bleeding and who have given birth recently.
