Service definer training session using Microsoft Teams - NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS)
Training sessions are currently paused while the e‑RS INT training environment is being used to support testing for the new Advice and Guidance (A&G) service. Once the environment is stable and plans for A&G are confirmed, we will schedule further sessions.
Session overview
Each session will contain approximately 1 hour 45 minutes of training with opportunities to ask questions. Please note each session covers the same content, so please only book onto one session.
This session is aimed mainly at users in a service definer role that set up and maintain the service in e-RS. Other users such as commissioners or users from service management teams might also find the session beneficial.
Users are welcome to attend any session to understand the full end-to-end e-RS process.
By the end of the session delegates will be able to:
- use the e-RS directory of services (DOS) to create and amend services
- understand and implement workgroups to give professional users access to referrals
- generate e-RS enquiries to understand activity and support provider resource planning
- recognise the link between directory set-up and referrer service searches
If you are new to e-RS, please review our e-RS Introduction video (duration 8 minutes) which provides an e-RS overview, details the main users of the service and their access requirements and explains the types of provider pathways available for patient's referrals.
What participants thought of this course
'I have attended the session before and this is a great refresher - I always come away with a much better knowledge and appreciation of the steps providers need to take to define and publish services and feel we can advise them better on including information that would be beneficial to referrers. The examples with the poll slot section are welcome, as this area is always very confusing!'

Please review the Directory of Services page which provides guidance to support creating and maintaining services on the Directory of Services (DoS).
