Referring clinician training session using Microsoft Teams - NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS)

Training sessions are currently paused while the e‑RS INT training environment is being used to support testing for the new Advice and Guidance (A&G) service. Once the environment is stable and plans for A&G are confirmed, we will schedule further sessions.

Session overview

Each session will contain approximately 2 hours of training with opportunities to ask questions. Each session covers the same content, so please only book onto one session.

This session is aimed at users from an organisation referring patients to specialist services in e-RS for example, practice managers, medical secretaries, GP or any clinician from GP practices or other referring organisations, such as prisons, dental and opticians.

Users are welcome to attend any session to understand the full end-to-end e-RS process.

By the end of the session delegates will be able to:

  • execute a service search and initiate a referral using e-RS
  • identify the different referral pathways (advice and guidance, directly and indirectly bookable, referral and clinical assessment services, appointment slot issues)
  • manage outbound referrals
  • monitor and action worklists appropriately
  • generate e-RS quick searches and use them to implement quality assurance measures

If you are new to e-RS, please review our e-RS Introduction video (duration 8 minutes) which provides an e-RS overview, details the main users of the service and their access requirements and explains the types of provider pathways available for patient's referrals.
