Digital Clinical Safety training is designed to provide NHS organisations and manufacturers of health IT products with training in the principles of safety, risk management and risk mitigation.

The Digital Clinical Safety training portfolio is designed and delivered to provide those working in Health and Social Care Organisations and Manufacturers with an understanding of key clinical risk management processes, activities and documentation that is required to be compliant with the DCB0129 and DCB0160 standards.
The portfolio of training is progressive, designed to grow skills and competence.

Essentials training
This e-learning is suitable for all staff working within Health and Social Care organisations or for manufacturers of Health IT. This offers a basic introduction to digital clinical safety and supports a culture of digital clinical safety across the NHS.
This course is free for NHS staff, as well as those with a gov.uk or hscni.net email address.

Non-NHS staff can purchase the e-learning via card for £35 (plus VAT). Please note you will need to register with Accent to obtain the e-learning.

Intermediate training
This e-learning is suitable for those working in a digital clinical safety related role or supporting those in a safety role. It builds on the 'essentials' and introduces the process activities and documents associated with DCB0129 and DCB0160 in the context of a care scenario.

This course is free for NHS staff, as well as those with a gov.uk or hscni.net email address.

If you already have an account with e-LfH, then you can enrol on the Clinical Safety Programme by logging in to the e-LfH hub, selecting My Account > Enrolment and selecting the Clinical Risk Management programme. You can then access the Clinical Risk Management e-Learning sessions immediately in the My e-Learning section.
Those without an NHS email account will need to purchase the e-learning via card. The non-NHS fee is £50 plus VAT. Please note you will need to register with Accent to obtain the e-learning.

Please also note the e-learning is not included in the non-NHS Practitioner course fee and needs to be ordered separately, as this is a pre-requisite for attending the course.
Practitioner training
This virtual/face-face workshop-based course is designed for those working in a direct digital clinical safety role or supporting those in a safety role. The training will provide learners with the knowledge and tools to undertake the required clinical risk management activities and documentation.
This course is a follow on to the Intermediate course for those looking to become a Clinical Safety Officer. The course starts at 9.15am for registration, finishing no later than 3pm.
Pre-requisites
Digital Clinical Safety Intermediate e-learning. Please send your pass certificate to [email protected] prior to attendance.
Optional set of pre-recorded video modules (2.5 hours) that recaps and consolidates the theory from the intermediate training. A link will be sent to our NHS Futures page upon course registration.
Cost
NHS: £475
Commercial: £625 (this does not include the mandatory pre-course Intermediate training, which you will need to purchase via our website prior to attending the course).

Digital Safety in Practice
This face-to-face course is suitable for all staff working within digital clinical safety. The day focusses on best practice, lessons learnt and networking. There are several key speakers from Health and Social Care, Regulation and Manufacturers. There is also a recap of the key requirements outlined in DCB0129 and DCB0160
This is a one day course from 9.30am - 4pm.
We strongly recommend undertaking the Intermediate e-learning before attending the Digital Safety in Practice (DSIP) event.

Refresher training
This e-learning is suitable for Clinical Safety Officers and those working in supporting roles. It supports staff in remaining knowledgeable in the application of clinical risk management during the development and use of Health IT.
The training is based on a care scenario and explores how to follow a CRM process by undertaking a series of activities and being able to list, develop and maintain safety documentation through a project’s life cycle. Particular attention will be given to accurate hazard identification and description and how to evidence effective mitigation from initiating to decommissioning health IT systems.

Digital Clinical Safety Clinics
This is a virtual one to one 15 minute clinic (not a dedicated training course). It gives those already trained in digital clinical safety the opportunity to raise queries or ask for clarification on all things clinical safety.
The pre-requisite to attending a clinic is the completion of a brief form summarising the topic of discussion.
