Incident Management Lead

Born and raised in Leeds, I've built my career around one constant: protecting communities from those who would do them harm. Now living in Harrogate with my wife, I have 3 children and a grandson, whose weekend adventures to soft play and football training keep me grounded.

My policing career began in November 2000, at Chapletown Police Station. After cutting my teeth in uniform, I moved into plain clothes work, tackling class A drug dealers head-on. Those early days of proactive policing - sometimes dangerous, always challenging - taught me skills that remain invaluable today. I evolved from on foot chases to sophisticated operations using surveillance, undercover officers and phone data to dismantle entire drug networks.

CID brought new challenges: burglaries, armed robberies, fraud and emerging cyber-enabled crimes. One memorable case involved collaborating with Canadian Police to arrest a paedophile using Facebook for sextortion against teenage boys in Leeds. It was here, as a qualified detective investigating increasingly digital crimes, that my passion for computer investigations ignited.

The Homicide and Major Enquiry team marked another evolution. Investigating murders, attempted murders and rapes across West Yorkshire, I qualified as a sergeant and managed detective teams whilst earning my Master's in Forensic Computing and Cybercrime Investigation from University College Dublin with honours. Whether tracking fugitives or securing convictions, my investigations increasingly relied on IP data, phone signals, CCTV, telematics and computer forensics.

My final police role saw me join the Regional and Organised Crime Unit Cyber Crime Team, supporting Economic Crime investigations into criminals using EncroChat for drug trafficking.

In November 2020, I transitioned to the former NHS Digital's Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC), leading the newly formed incident management team. We've grown significantly and now operate within NHS England, investigating cyber security incidents detected through our systems or received intelligence.

When an NHS organisation faces a serious cyber incident, we provide the co-ordination and planning that can significantly reduce impact and stress.

Today, I co-ordinate complex incident responses, develop team capabilities, work on national cyber security projects and present to NHS organisations nationwide, ensuring our health service remains resilient against evolving digital threats.
