Renal Replacement Therapy (RRT) takes the form either of dialysis or kidney transplantation. Not all patients are suitable for a kidney transplant (either because they are not physically well enough, there is no suitable donor kidney, or patient choice). These patients have dialysis. Dialysis takes the form either of peritoneal dialysis (PD) or haemodialysis (HD). NB - We identified a data coding issue with the 2008 report which has resulted in some of the data in the organisational survey responses being affected to varying degrees. On 8 March 2010 we published the amended report and errata note above which corrects this. This means there are changes in the information displayed on pages 57-60 of the 2008 Patient Transport Survey Report. There is also a change to the information reported on Q21 of the patient transport survey about the proportion of patients offering to discuss their patient transport needs and satisfaction in more detail. We recommend that you check any previous analysis relating to these areas against the refreshed data. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. The corrections made are highlighted in red throughout this update, and the differences in data are also displayed. If you have any questions please contact us at [email protected]
