Reporting by Gender

In 2021-22, data submitted by Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Trust contained 79% of records where the gender of the person was not known. This accounted for around 52% of the total unknowns recorded in the gender field in 2021-22. In 2022-23, Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust also submitted 63% of records where the gender was unknown in the year which accounted for 57% of the total unknown records recorded in the gender field in 2022-23.

As a result of these data quality issues, caution should be taken when interpreting data for males and females nationally and at a sub national level in the regions and UTLAs within the surrounding areas of these providers.
