Cancer Services Profiles, 2025 annual update
Official statistics
Summary
The interactive Cancer Services profile tool has been updated to include the latest financial year of data that are available, collated by the National Disease Registration Service (NDRS). For most indicators, for example on screening, diagnostics and urgent suspected cancer referrals, the latest data is now available for the financial year 2024 to 2025. For the cancer incidence indicator, the tool has been updated to include the 2023 to 2024 data.
Highlights
Background
The profiles have been designed to support commissioners and health professionals to assess the impact of cancer on their local population and make decisions about services.
These profiles present data by general practitioner (GP) practice, sub-Integrated Care Board (sub-ICB), Integrated Care Board (ICB) and at a national level on:
- Cancer incidence and screening
- Urgent suspected cancer (USC) referrals
- Diagnostic services
- Emergency presentations and admissions
Data are shown for the 6,168 GP practices that were active in the 2024 to 2025 financial year with a list size of 800 or more patients. It was assumed a practice was ‘active’ if there is a record for it in the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) 2024-25.
Cervical screening coverage for those aged 25 to 49 or those aged 50 to 64 has not been updated in this release, due to a lack of updated data following a system transition.
Acknowledgements
This work uses data that has been provided by patients and collected by the NHS as part of their care and support. The data is collated, maintained and quality assured by the National Disease Registration Service, which is part of NHS England.
