Objectives, scope and responsibilities
The DAPB is the legally mandated strategic body that oversees the national assurance of information standards and data collections.
- focussing on reducing duplication across the sector through the principle of 'collect once, use many times.'
- delegating formal approval authority to the Data Assurance Board
- reliant on the Data Design Authority for architectural consultation
Responsibilities (in scope)
The DAPB is responsible for providing an external, representative view from health and social care stakeholders. This includes:
- reviewing the impact of the standards collections and extractions aimed to be made available by programmes and teams in the NHS
- support of both the Data Design Authority, (responsible for publication of data architecture, and it's components), and Data Assurance Board - who assures that requests for data (information standards notices) meet the the architecture requirements
Key objectives
Board members are expected to have be actively working or recipient of services in the context of the health and social care landscape today.
- considering the ethical impact of data driven technologies within the health and social care landscape and recommendations on bias mitigation
- providing feedback on wider data strategies, engagement approaches, and emerging standards from the wider health and social care landscape, at integrated care system and England level, as well a Devolved Nations and Internationally
Outputs and deliverables
Key outputs
- Ensure the Data Assurance Board and Data Design Authority are able to seek input and reflect the needs and the reality of the health and social care system today, and its future aspirations
- Provide insight and steer on value of data policy, to support design authorities in strategic investments
