Handling freedom of information requests

This session is for staff with responsibility for managing an freedom of information (FOI) request. It explores what is meant by an FOI request, people’s legal rights in relation to FOI requests, and how to confirm if an FOI request is valid. The module provides a helpful 7 step process to manage FOI requests, and guides learners through the complexities of when it is appropriate to refuse an FOI request.

Becoming an information asset owner 

This session guides new Information Asset Owners (IAOs) on how to get started in the role. It explores information assets and information risk, the importance of managing information assets and registers appropriately, the responsibilities of the IAO and their relationship to other roles relating to information assets.

Managing Subject Access Requests 

This session is aimed at members of staff who are managing subject access requests (SARs), taking on responsibility for SARs or providing data for SARs. These are most likely to be certain information governance staff, health and care professionals conducting a serious harm review for a SAR, human resources staff, support function or administrative staff, legal services staff or records services staff.

Information sharing for frontline staff working in health care 

This session is for frontline and admin staff in health care who are responsible for sharing confidential information as part of their jobs. It will help you to understand the principles behind information sharing and how to apply them in practice. It will ask when and how you would share information in a wide range of practical health care scenarios featuring GPs, nurses, midwives, practice managers, admin staff and other colleagues. The correct courses of action are explained along with the reasons behind them.

Information sharing for staff working in adult social care 

This interactive training will help you understand the principles behind information sharing and how to apply them. It will ask when and how you would share information in a wide range of practical social care scenarios featuring social workers, registered care managers, occupational therapists and other care colleagues. You will learn when it’s safe to share information; when you should check before sharing; and who you should check with.
