Virtual Wards Minimum Data Set pilot
Summary
NHS England has produced this pilot with a purpose to develop and test the collection of a Virtual Wards Minimum Data Set. This is a granular daily data collection, which is intended to support recovery and provide the NHS with a modern data architecture that enables timely, high-quality data to be used to support decision making.

Scope
All providers of NHS virtual wards services will be invited and encouraged to participate in the Virtual Wards Minimum Data Set pilot.
Summary of data items to be collected
The Virtual Wards Minimum Data Set Specification contains five collections:
- 001 Capacity
- 002 Master Patient Index (MPI)
- 003 Referral
- 004 Stay
- 005 Activity and assessment
