Summary

The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has issued a statement that they are investigating the usage of Russian anti-virus products within the government.

Threat details

NCSC has advised that they are reviewing the assurance of the security for the Russian company, Kaspersky the largest Russian player in the UK. They’re currently seeking measures to prevent the transfer of UK data to Russia.

NCSC are conducting this work as their analysis of the Russian state intent is that it targets national security interests of the UK.

Organisations with a responsibility for critical national infrastructure should carry out a risk assessment on their chosen anti-virus. If an organisation has concerns about their specific AV provider they must contact the NCSC for further guidance.
