ELEMENT Domain Model: AllergyOrAdverseReactionEvent

An ELEMENT to represent a diagnosis of a known allergy or adverse reaction1 event. An Adverse Reaction is any undesirable or unwanted consequence of a preventative, diagnostic, or therapeutic procedure or regimen. An Allergy is an acquired hypersensitivity caused by exposure to a particular antigen (allergen) resulting in a marked increase in reactivity to that antigen upon subsequent exposure2. An allergic reaction to substance, drug or food is essentially a subset of all adverse reactions. The term allergic reaction should be used when the clinician deems the reaction to be allergic in origin. If there is uncertainty then the term adverse reaction should be used3. 1: NPFIT-FNT-TO-DPM-0725.06 - NPfIT Message Implementation Manual 7.2.02 2: NPFIT-NCR-DES-0135.07 NHS Care Record Elements 3: NPFIT-NCR-DES-0422.06 Representation of Commonly Used Concepts in the Care Record

value
Literal value(s): FINDING_OBSERVATION_ELEMENT
rc_id II 1..1 The globally-unique identifier by which this node in the EHR hierarchy is referenced in the EHR system to which the data were first committed. This identifier shall be retained by the EHR Recipient and re-used whenever this RECORD_COMPONENT is subsequently included in another EHR_EXTRACT.
meaning CD.CV 1..1 A code to describe a diagnosis event of an allergic or adverse reaction.

code
Semantic expression constraint
Literal expression constraint
synthesised BL 1..1 This attribute value shall be TRUE if this RECORD_COMPONENT has been created in order to comply with this standard , but this point in the EHR hierarchy has no corresponding node in the EHR from which it was extracted.

obs_time IVL_TS 0..1 The date and time, or interval, of the allergy event.
