Reference Model Class: TEL.PHONE

As ISO 21090, a constraint of TEL.PERSON so it must refer to some telephone based communication system with a person. This data type flavor supports the logical representation of the following NHS Data Model and Dictionary telephone address structures.

  • UK TELEPHONE NUMBER, i.e. a COMMUNICATION CONTACT STRING where COMMUNICATION CONTACT METHOD = 'UK Telephone Number'.
  • UK FACSIMILE NUMBER, i.e. a COMMUNICATION CONTACT STRING where COMMUNICATION CONTACT METHOD = 'UK Facsimile Number'.
  • COMMUNICATION CONTACT STRING where COMMUNICATION CONTACT METHOD = 'Other non UK Telephone Number' or 'Pager'.
Furthermore the NHS Data Model and Dictionary specifies a number of specific usage types of UK TELEPHONE NUMBER. These can be specified using the use attribute.
  • CONTACT TELEPHONE NUMBER (HOME), i.e. use = TelecommunicationAddressUse.H (a communication address at home)
  • CONTACT TELEPHONE NUMBER (WORK), i.e. use = TelecommunicationAddressUse.WP (work)
  • CONTACT TELEPHONE NUMBER (MOBILE), i.e. use = TelecommunicationAddressUse.MC (mobile number)
