Overview: Health Protection Electronic Notification (HPEN)

The Health Protection Electronic Notification (HPEN) Domain Message Specification supports the following care communications:

  • Health Protection Electronic Notification (HPEN)
  • Health Protection Electronic Notification (HPEN) Response message

This specification is used to inform Public Health England (PHE) that a notifiable disease has been diagnosed in a patient, and also the response message from PHE.

Notes:

  • This Domain Message Specification includes artefacts required to instantiate the message specifications - for details click on the "Associated Specifications" tab.
  • Validation tools are now downloadable from TRUD in the "NHS Interoperability Specifications Tooling Pack".
  • Within this Domain Message Specification "greyed out" buttons are used where the artefact is either not applicable or currently unavailable.
