Professor Jo Knight
Prof Jo Knight is an Independent Specialist Researcher and Academic member of the Advisory Group for Data (AGD).
About Jo
Jo is a Professor in Applied Data Science in Lancaster University Medical School. She has been at Lancaster since 2016 having previously held posts at the University of Toronto and Kings College London.
Jo’s academic expertise is in Data Science and Interdisciplinary Research as evidenced by her publication and funding record. She is particularly focused on using routinely collected health data to shed light on topics such as diagnostic pathways and health service provision with the end goal of improving patient outcomes.
Jo has held several leadership roles at Lancaster including Co-Director of the Lancaster Data Science Institute and Director of Research Enhancement within the Faculty of Health and Medicine. Within the region she is Research Director for the Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Secure Data Environment. She also sits on various National Institute for Health and Care Research committees as well as chairing an expert review committee for the Clinical Practice Research Datalink.
