Dr Jon Fistein
Jon is the Chair of the Advisory Group for Data (AGD).
About Jon
Jon qualified as a doctor, having read medicine at the University of Cambridge and Imperial College London, and later trained as a barrister. He has extensive experience across the public, private and academic sectors. He holds a PhD in medical ethics and information governance, is a Senior Fellow of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management, and a Chartered Fellow of the British Computer Society. At the UK Medical Research Council, he was Head of Clinical Ethics and Data, representing the MRC on the Ethics and Governance Council of UK Biobank. He has also served on the University of Leeds School of Medicine Research Ethics Committee, and was previously a member of IGARD, bringing direct experience of the group's work and evolution into AGD.
Jon currently works part-time across several roles. He is Chief Medical Officer of Outcomes Based Healthcare, Leadership and Management Theme Lead at the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine, Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Leeds, and Visiting Fellow of Kellogg College, Oxford. At the University of Oxford, he leads postgraduate modules in information governance and health data ethics in the Department of Computer Science and the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Health Data Science.
